The Intergenerational Senior Engagement Program is designed to empower seniors to remain active, involved, and connected by sharing their time, skills, and wisdom with children, families, and the broader community.

Through meaningful volunteer opportunities, social enterprise projects, wellness activities, and personalized support services, seniors become valued contributors and “community grandparents” who play an essential role in shaping the next generation.

This program celebrates the gifts seniors bring—experience, patience, creativity, and heart—while supporting their physical well‑being, social life, and sense of purpose.

Volunteer With Purpose: Supporting Children’s Growth and Learning

Seniors are invited to volunteer in children’s programs, where they can:

  • Facilitate play‑based learning
  • Lead storytelling, art, music, or cultural activities
  • Support outdoor play and nature exploration
  • Provide nurturing “grandparent‑like” presence
  • Share traditional skills, crafts, language, and life experiences

These interactions create deep bonds, strengthen children’s emotional development, and foster a sense of continuity between generations.

Social Enterprise Projects: Create, Build, and Share Your Talents

Seniors can choose to take part in hands‑on social enterprise activities based on their passions and abilities, such as:

  • Cooking & baking – preparing healthy snacks or cultural foods
  • Gardening – tending community gardens, planting herbs, and teaching children about nature
  • Woodworking & crafting – making toys, simple furniture, or handmade items
  • Cultural arts – sharing traditions, sewing, knitting, or storytelling circles

These projects create opportunities for meaningful contribution, skill‑sharing, and even community fundraising—while promoting confidence, creativity, and joy.

Wellness & Community Programming

To support physical and emotional well‑being, seniors can participate in a variety of community wellness programs, including:

  • Yoga and gentle movement
  • Strength and balance training
  • Meditation and relaxation sessions
  • Group walks, outdoor activities, and seasonal programs
  • Social events, celebrations, and community gatherings

Our wellness activities help seniors stay active, connected, and engaged with peers and families.

Transportation, Companion & Personal Support Services

To ensure every senior can participate comfortably and safely, we provide:

  • Pick‑up and drop‑off services to and from programming
  • Accompaniment for medical appointments or other essential visits
  • Support with mobility needs
  • Friendly companions who offer conversation, assistance, and connection

These supports help remove barriers to participation and promote independence.
